Archive for April, 2007

the weather has been lousy the last few days and I haven’t been out with my camera so here is another shot from the weekends steam fest

this is from the end of the day at about 9.30pm when the trains are steamed down (don’t know the technical term) the man between the two trains was working on the fire box of the 3801 and kept vanishing in the steam

While there were full size traction engines at the steam fest there were also some very good scale model ones

sorry I didn’t get to talk to owner of this beautiful one to find out any details

Steam fest 2007 was held this weekend just north of Sydney in the town of Maitland
there was lots of steam trains to ride and displays of static steam engines, tractors and even an old steam powered truck
I will post a few shots of the historic steam equipment from the fest over the next few days

The 3801 is a beautifully restored old train that used to do the run from Sydney to Newcastle. As well as getting this shot of the train I also managed to take a ride on it over the weekend :)

This is one of my favorite beaches here in Sydney, not for the swimming, surfing or fishing. but just because it isn’t crowded and it is beautiful, I could spend hours here every day as the mood is always different every time you come here.

Australian bush doesn’t really have an autumn color change as gum trees don’t loose their leaves for winter, The only noticeable color change is in the grasses in spring. I’ll have to try and find some imported trees for the autumn color burst (hasn’t started yet)
