today’s sunset taken from Hawkins lookout Wisemans ferry, the Hawkesbury river below is the northern border of greater Sydney

situated at “Camp Cove” this old canon was part of Sydney’s early defenses. the canon looks back into the harbour at Sydney in the background and would have been use to fire at the rear of attacking ships after they had come through the heads

Isn’t that a great name
this is the other side of Wooloomooloo’s finger wharf that I posted on the 21st and this time I have used a wide angle lens instead of the telephoto to show how big this wharf really is, plus with the return of some wet weather I have been lucky to get a more dramatic sky.

The Hornby lighthouse was built after over 120 lives were lost 150 years ago (1857) when the British clipper Dunbar was ship wrecked on South head at the entrance to Sydney harbour and is the 2nd oldest harbour lighthouse in New South Wales
the light house is Painted with Red and White stripes to distinguish it from the Macquarie lighthouse 2 km to the south
