The camp drafting is a competition where a rider has to cut a single steer out of a small heard and stop it from returning to the group by only using his horse, then the gate to the enclosure is opened and the steer has to be driven around a figure 8 course and through a gate

the first part is done very quietly to cut the steer from the group, but once the steer realizes it has been cut it tries very hard to get back to the group, points are given on the riders ability to cut the steer, once the gate opens the steer bolts for it and the chase is on, the rider again uses only his horse to control the direction of the run away steer with points given for going around each marker in the correct direction, the second part also has a time limit

here is a YouTube video showing a camp draft rider in a country competition (it is hard to see the markers on the figure 8 course due to the poor quality but they are there)

To break up the shots from the Easter show I’ve gone back to the beach shots I took last week for one of the color shots that I had entered in a competition (voting is over so I can show it now)

there were four of these Bobcats putting on a dancing display in unison, they stayed up on 2 wheels for few mins while doing pirouettes etc in time to the music
